our history

The Team Valley is the oldest trading estate in the UK, opened by King George VI in 1936. It reflected the historic industrial landscape of the time providing a home to heavy industry; predominantly coal mining and shipbuilding.

During the 1990’s this proud history gave way to rising crime as the difficulties of maintaining security in the UK’s largest business park led to decline.

The solution was to create the Valleywatch scheme in 1996 with an extensive network of CCTV cameras and vehicle patrols to assist police in making an average of 50 arrests per year through the use of skilled operators and close liason. PC Racheal Brennan the Team Valley Beat Officer is based within the Valleywatch offices.

This provides an efficient and highly effective means to combat the problem. Within months the Team Valley Trading Estate experienced a 79% drop in crime.
